Izo FitzRoy’s recent album ‘A Good Woman’ was a tour de force, her stunning vocal elegance and engaging lyrical talking points standing atop a vibrant blend of timeless soul, classic R&B and vigorous funk. The album garnered extensive airplay support from renowned stations like BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, and FIP, while Jazz FM honored it as their 'Album of the Week'. Now Izo is providing her first new music since the release of the album as she shares the new single ‘Body of Mine’.

‘Body of Mine’ was recorded during sessions for ‘A Good Woman’, but it was reluctantly left off the final album as it has a very different mood to the rest of the record. Switching between gritty soul and a sweet falsetto, Izo’s voice is again undeniable as she explores the vices and thrills of substances - what feels good in the moment so often isn’t what’s best for you in the long-term. The song’s luscious instrumentation, super smooth production and pop-leaning jazzy tones was inspired by Burt Bacharach, and ‘Body of Mine’ took on a greater emotional resonance after one of the music’s all-time greats passed away earlier this year.

Izo says, “‘Body of Mine’ was written in 2020 in the throes of the pandemic when I was stuck at home listening to a lot of Roberta Flack and Burt Bacharach records from the late ‘60s. I wanted to create a song with the foundational elements of jazz, soul and bossa nova to accompany fairly dry and comedic lyrics about a complicated relationship with drugs and alcohol.”

“Body of Mine” will be released on 14th July to stream / download.
