When life feels like a walking dream, a sluggish trek through superficiality and the attention economy of today, how do you regain consciousness?

Today, East Forest — the accomplished electro-acoustic musician who has collaborated with Ram Dass, Jon Hopkins, Laraaji, Nick Mulvey, Peter Broderick, DJ ANNA, and more — releases new single “Birds Eye.” Between cascades of grand piano and slow, jazz leaning drums, the track offers an intentional moment to zoom out, slow down, and reorient.

Listen to “Birds Eye” here alongside a visualizer featuring movement artists Quynh Lilouw and Beren D’amico directed by AnAkA, the acclaimed director and visual artist whose commercial work includes Nike, Diesel Vogue, as well as stunning videos for FKA Twigs.

Forthcoming record Music For The Deck Of The Titanic (out Nov 3 on Bright Antenna Records) grasps for serenity amidst the maelstrom of global crises and modern spiritual rot. In a return to form, East Forest combines an austere palette of acoustic sounds — live drums, upright bass, piano, and voice — with meditative, pulsating synth work. A deliberate attempt by East Forest to center both himself and listeners,Titanic is an open invitation for listeners to contemplate their own inner-being.

Recent single “So What” is a half joking bit of genius composed of delicate piano, upright bass, drums, and spoken word from Duncan Trussell (Midnight Gospel) that explores the meaning of hope, while the first track off Titanic, “Cosmic Dance (ft. Marieme),” was praised by Paste for “living up to its name, as the celestial vocalizations tenderly stretch the space of the digital, airy arrangements East Forest provides. Soulful, fresh and memorable.”

Since his 2008 debut, East Forest has sought to guide listeners through contemporary journeys of deep introspection through music. Primarily a solo effort (of Krishna-Trevor Oswalt), the project straddles the worlds of ambient, neoclassical, electronic and indie-pop to help fans explore the vast reaches of the self.

With his Ceremony Concerts, East Forest goes even deeper within, merging live music and guided meditations to create an experience that’s equal parts concert and ritual. Watch “What Is An East Forest Ceremony-Concert” to gain a full understanding of the experience in store.

East Forest recently announced a special album release Ceremony Concert on November 7 in LA at Union Pico Project, hosted by Sid The Cat and featuring vocals from Senegalese-American singer Marieme, tickets on sale here. Plus, a show at Washington Hall in Seattle, tickets on sale here.
