The new album, recorded by Grammy award winning producer Jim Tullio (John Martyn/Mavis Staples/Richie Havens), enhances the Indian mantra vibe that runs throughout Devi 2000's catalog with grooves flavored by reggae, bossa nova, classic R&B, and trance rock. The album includes a special guest Tibetan chant performance by the Drepung Gomang Monks.
Devi 2000,founded by singer/composer/harmonium player Debi Buzil, is Chicago’s premier kirtan group - holding down the chanting scene in Chicago for more than two decades. Their five albums and two singles are rooted in Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion, the path of love. Blending Indian Sanskrit chant, English songs, world rhythms and grooves both electronic and acoustic, Devi 2000's songs have also been featured on TV shows such as “The L Word”.
